Brian Reed is the one behind this famous quote. He is a musician, front-end developer, and self proclaimed ‘ghostbuster’. This quote acknowledges that everything around us is designed, but very few of them are properly designed.  

“There are three responses to a piece of design – yes, no, and WOW! Wow is the one to aim for.” – Milton Glaser    

This famous quote was spoken by Milton Glaser, who is a famous graphic designer and co-founder of the New York magazine. Some of his greatest works include Obama’s 2009 campaign poster, the I ❤ NY logo, and the DC Comics’ logo.

“Simply Complicated” – Paul Rand

Spoken by an American graphic designer called Paul Rand, the quote is trying to tell that as much as a design looks simple, applying it in your design work is not easy. Some of his great design work include the IBM and ABC logo. 

“If no one hates it, no one really loves it.” – Jessica Walsh    

Jessica Wash is a well-known graphic designer who co-founded Sagmeister & Walsh branding agency. What is interesting about her is that she was made a partner at the tender age of 25. She started her career as an intern under Paula Scher at Pentagram. She has worked at Adobe, Levi’s, and Print magazine.

“Design is Life” – Issey Miyake

Famous for his technology-inspired exhibitions and designs, Issey Miyake is a Japanese fashion designer who came up with this thoughtful quote. The quote tries to explain to us that rather than viewing graphic design as an academic discipline, we should see it as a way of life.

This famous quote whose author is not known explains that the truth is often obscured by a bad design. Besides being reflective, a good design is also truthful.

A famous and prolific book cover designer and the associate art director at Knopf, Chip Kidd has helped many authors to create and design outstanding book covers. He has also worked as the creators of Jurassic Park and other graphic classic novels.

Robert L. Peters is an active designer who also helps to educate other designers on the importance of graphic designing in our daily life. While coming up with this quote, he wanted to express how graphic design helps to shape the future. 

“Graphic design will save the world right after rock and roll does.” – David Carson

Better known for inventing  “grunge typography,” David Carson is the graphic designer and a guru when it comes to print publication. His work is vivid in music magazines such as Ray Gun. 

“Thoughtful Design” –  Ralph Caplan

A writer, public speaker, and a web design agency owner, Ralph Caplan came up with this quote to show how design can be a detriment to society if not taken seriously. 

“Good design is all about making other designers feel like idiots because that idea wasn’t theirs.” – Frank Chimero    

Frank Chimero can be seen in big brands such as Nike, Facebook, and Adobe. Yes, a good design always makes other designers like ‘Why didn’t I come up with that idea?’.
